The Councilor for Employment, Industry, Trade and Environment, José Antonio López Olmedo, has met this week with representatives of the Association of Sewer Merchants, to offer them the possibility of signing an agreement that allows the installation of a tent for New Year's Eve at the fairground next December 31.
This offer is the product of the agreement adopted on November 29 by the Municipal Plenary, which urged the government team to install a tent on New Year's Eve in the Entrevías Fairground, according to the current legislation, in collaboration with the Culinary Innkeepers, and only be carried out in the case that there is an agreement or consensus with the Association of Merchants.
In the meeting held this week, the merchants have transferred to the City Council that after consulting their associates, they do not consider adequate the installation of a tent on New Year's Eve, for several reasons.
The first of them is the scarce existing margin of time, which is totally insufficient to organize an event of this kind.
In addition, merchants have negatively assessed the high cost that would involve its completion, as it would include the conditioning and decoration of the area, the recruitment of private security and external personnel, the installation of toilets, in addition to the assembly of the tent itself, so that there are no minimum guarantees to recover the high investment required.
And it is already in the month of December, many young people already have their New Year's Eve planned and they will not change at the last minute, they added.
However, the Merchants Association has expressed its willingness to promote this celebration next year, with sufficient time that requires the proper organization of an event of this type.
