Huermur requested last April the protection of the historic aqueduct of the Sewer Wheel and the establishment of its BIC protection environment, in the absence of it despite being an obligation of the law of cultural heritage.

The Ministry of Culture has resolved this October the initiation of the protection file urged by Huermur, thus achieving full protection as an asset of Cultural Interest of this important huertano monument in a precautionary manner.

Huermur also celebrates the protection of the Acequia Mayor de Alquibla, the ditch of the Daba and the Turbedal, as well as the Hermitage of Ntra. Señora de la Salud, the Iberian Salt Water reservoir, and several smaller bridges and aqueducts of the Wheel .

The conservationist community points out that finally this emblematic monument of the orchard and its aqueduct, one of the largest preserved in the region, can enjoy the protection they deserve under the law as an Asset of Cultural Interest.

The Association for the Conservation of the Garden and the Heritage of Murcia (Huermur) has obtained the protection file of the historic aqueduct of the Rueda de Alcantarilla, in the middle of the orchard and whose origins go back to the 15th century, as well as an environment of protection greater than thirty soccer fields, that guarantees the preservation and protection of the landscape and cultural values ​​of the place, including the well-known Museum of the Huerta.

Huermur also celebrates the protection granted to the various elements and cultural assets of the place, among which is the protection of the Alquibla, Daba and Turbedal ditches whose origin goes back centuries, as well as the inclusion in the file of the Hermitage of Our Lady of Health, and of the Iberian site of the head of Agua Salada dating to the end of the 7th century BC - first half of the 6th century BC

For the conservationist community, this initiation is the first step to ensure that one of the most important hydraulic complexes in the Region of Murcia and the orchard has the protection it deserves under the law of heritage, since they remember that the aqueduct of the Rueda de Alcantarilla is one of the largest preserved in the orchard today.

In the same sense has been pronounced the president of Huermur, Sergio Pacheco, which indicates that: "Given the situation of vulnerability in which was this important monument of our garden, and within the actions provided in the Plan PatrimurSOS of Huermur, We had to act and now the first step has been taken to guarantee the protection of the landscape and cultural values ​​of this hydraulic heritage, and so that future generations can enjoy it as we do today. "

Finally, Huermur hopes that finally the Sewer Wheel, its historic and imposing aqueduct and all the goods that form this cultural group will be protected according to the mandates of the law of patrimony and under its protection.
