The Mayor of Alcantarilla, Joaquín Buendía, accompanied by the Councilor for Sports and Youth, Antonio Martínez Griñán, received at the City Hall the three athletes of the Alcantarillero team, Atlético Atlético, who won medals in the last championships in Spain and beat national and regional records , the sprinter Sergio López Barranco;
the pole vaulter José Antonio Maldonado Albaladejo and the marcher Pedro Conesa Cerón, along with them were also present the president of the Club, Lydia Sánchez Collado and the technical director, Juan Carlos Abellán Barnés, as well as the coach of Marcha, David Hurtado.
In the Plenary Hall and together with relatives of the athletes, the Mayor of Alcantarilla, Joaquín Buendía, congratulated them for the successes and thanked them again for having the name of Alcantarilla in all corners of Spain and throughout the World, as they are already doing it, with successes constantly and in a great projection.
Maldonado managed to beat the men's absolute regional record, with 5.17 meters, also achieving nationally in his category as Junior, which earned him to get the ticket to the Under 20 World Championship, held in Tampere (Finland), getting into the final and remaining in the 12th pole vault.
The alcantarillero has also achieved great triumphs throughout the season, highlighting the second place in the Under 20 Indoor Championship in Spain, held last March in Ourense and more recently the past 21 and 22 July in ninth place in the Championship of Absolute Spain, celebrated in Getafe.
Sergio Lopez in this same Championship of Absolute Spain, held in Getafe, managed to beat the record of Spain under 20, in speed, in the 100 meters, in one of his semifinals, since in the final he finished sixth.
Previously in the month of February he achieved second place in 60 meters and silver medal in the Absolute Spain Championship Indoor Track, held in Valencia and gold medal to get the first position in 60 meters also in the Championship of Spain Sub 20 in Covered Track, held in Ourense.
In the Tampere World Championships (Finland), he managed to get into the semifinals of 100 meters, finally being in the 14th position, while in relay 4x100 with the national team, they achieved a meritorious sixth place.
He has participated in two international meetings with Spain in both 60 meters and relay 4x100.
He has broken the regional records of 100 meters of Male Junior, by beating the national and the 60 meters of smooth indoor track, to beat the national sub 20 in Valencia.
Another of the athletes with an increasingly bright road, is Pedro Conesa Cerón, the alcantararo marchadora, trained by ciezano David Hurtado, three first places in just six months, in championships of Spain sub 18, the last of them the last June 24 in Gijón, in 10 km march with a time of 45:33 and therefore gold medal, which must be joined in February in Burjassot (Valencia), in this same distance with a time of 43:48 and the third first place in December of 2017, this time in 5 km march, in the Championship of Spain of winter of promotion, celebrated in Guadix (Granada).
Internationally, Pedro Conesa, the 10 km march championship of Burjassot, gave him the ticket to participate in the World Championship of the Sub 20 teams, in a superior category to his, in Taicang (China), on June 5, being in the 18th position, with a personal time of 42:35, but with a creditable fourth place by teams for Spain.
As well as participating in the beginning of July in the II European Championship under 18, held in Györ (Hungary), being in the 12th position in the test of 10 km march.
The Sociedad Alcaética Alcantara was born in 2012, with an excellent job, having as president Lydia Sánchez, having as technical director and perhaps one of the most important technicians at this time of the Murcian athletics, as is Juan Carlos Abellán.
