Yesterday in the festivity of San Luis, date in which two years of his death were fulfilled, the one who was parish priest of the Church of Our Lady of the Assumption, Luis Martínez Mármol, precisely on the day of his name day, the residents of Sewer paid tribute for their 19 years at the head of it.
Previously in this temple, full of parishioners, civil and military authorities, presidents of fraternities and brotherhoods of our city, attended the Holy Mass that presided over the Bishop of the Diocese of Cartagena, Monsignor Lorca Planes, concelebrating with the Secretary General and Chancellor of the Diocese, Tomás Cascales and the parish priest Manuel Guillén, along with other priests.
The mayor of Alcantarilla, Joaquín Buendía, was also there, accompanied by several members of the Municipal Corporation and the sewer senator, Nuria Guijarro.
At the end of the Mass, tremendously emotional for the many references of love, memories and comments on the pastoral life of the honoree, with family members present, almost all of the attendees came to discover the plaque that gives name to the street "Parroco D. Luis Martínez Mármol ", carried out by a sister-in-law of the deceased, together with Monsignor Lorca Planes and the mayor of Alcantarilla, Joaquín Buendía.
For the occasion a group of musicians of the Band of the Association of Friends of the Music of Alcantarilla, along with the Parochial Choir of the Church of the Asunción, carried out a series of musical interpretations, that were united to the words of the Mayor and those of the Bishop.
The proposal of this street nomination, was endorsed by hundreds of neighborhood firms that with the direction of the parish priest Manuel Guillén, raised them to the Sewer City Council, being the Plenary of the Municipal Corporation of July 27, 2017, who approved it.
For the dedication of a street to the Parish Priest D. Luís Martínez Mármol, apart from the affection and affection that he was referred to in the document for the collection of signatures by the neighbors, they highlighted his general trajectory in his priestly ministry and in particular that of the diocesan parish priest in The Church of Our Lady of the Assumption of our municipality from the year 1997 until the date of his death in the year 2016. D. Luis Martínez Mármol, was born in Molina de Segura on July 8, 1940. On the 11th of the same month he was baptized in the Parish of Our Lady of the Assumption of the same town.
At age 13, he entered the Minor Seminary of San José, later moving on to the Major Seminary of San Fulgencio, where he studied Philosophy and Theology.
On September 25, 1965, he was ordained a priest in the parish church of San Andrés de Murcia, by Bishop Pablo Barrachina and Estevan, Bishop of Orihuela and Apostolic Administrator of Cartagena.
From the moment of his ordination, he held the following positions: Coadjutor of the Parish of El Salvador de Jumilla (1965-1969).
During his stay in Jumilla he was also appointed in charge of the Parish of Our Lady of the Rosary of the Alqueria and Fuente del Pino (1967-1969).
Ecuadorean priest of the Parish of Santa Bárbara de Archivel (1969-1071).
From 1971 to 1972 he gave religious service to the Army performing the Military Service.

When she arrived in 1997 taking over the Parish of Our Lady of the Assumption of the Sewer, she actively directs the works for the construction of the parish halls for the catechumenal action, as well as the remodeling of the Chapel of the Communion , carries out improvements in the interior in terms of equipment such as the renovation of the benches and the interior lighting of the parish.
He was the director of the Nursery School of Our Lady of the Assumption and that welcomed the children of families with difficulties and who needed support in the care of their children to be able to work.
This school disappears when the Salesian Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus are in charge of the Municipal Nursery.
He was also the one who was the one who would regularize all the documentation referring to the lands occupied by the present Parish of Our Lady of the Assumption and that had been ceded many years ago by a noble family of the village and who were without formalize.
