The City of Sewer, through the Department of Employment, Industry, Trade and Environment, has planned a series of activities for next Tuesday June 5 and commemorate the World Environment Day, with a schedule of activities to promote the awareness and global action in favor of protecting the environment.
This year, we made it appealing to the world population in favor of a planet without contamination by plastics.
From 9:30 in the morning until 1:30 p.m., there will be a theatrical performance and educational games on recycling, by "Activa your World", at the facilities of the Museum of La Huerta, with assistance limited to the educational centers of our municipality and taking advantage of the fact that we are celebrating the 50th anniversary of said museum.
In the afternoon, at 8:00 p.m., in the auditorium of the Citizen Participation Center, we will hold a Conference "In Defense of the Environment", with the following panels, the first one in charge of the Birken Association: Nature Friends, with "5 things about climate change that you should know if you live in Murcia".
Theme: Climate change and energy.
Next will be the European Environment Association, with "Marine debris: a tide out of control".
Theme: Marine litter and contamination by plastics.
And finalize this Conference with Hero España, with "Hero committed to the Environment, helping to improve the ecosystem of bees."
Theme: Industry and biodiversity.
The acts in which the City Council participates are also completed with the delivery tomorrow of the second prize of the contest on Sustainable Use of Water, organized by Hidrogea, which is already celebrating its fourth edition in the Region of Murcia, which the student of the Samaniego Secondary School, Carla Salinas Gómez, for her story entitled "El Agua, Fuente de Riqueza".
More than half of the participants of the contest have been Sewer students, all of them young ESO students in the educational centers of all the municipalities where the company manages the complete water cycle: Abanilla, Águilas, Alcantarilla, Beniel, Cartagena, Cehegín , Cieza, Jumilla, Lorca, San Javier, Torre Pacheco and Las Torres de Cotillas.
The first prize went to César Romeo of IES Los Molinos de Cartagena.
