Alcantarilla (Murcia), April 30, 2018 The mayor of Alcantarilla, Joaquín Buendía, and the president of State Lotteries and Betting, Inmaculada García, presented today, at the Museum of the Huerta, which celebrates its 50th Anniversary, the tenth of the National Lottery Draw on Saturday, May 12, dedicated to the Sewer Festival in May.
A total of 10 million tenths with the image of the Falla de la Bruja in FITUR 2018 will go on sale for this lottery in the 11,000 points of sale of lotteries, so the image of Alcantarilla will be disseminated in all corners of the Spanish geography.
The Sweepstakes broadcast amounts to 60 million euros, distributing in prizes 70% of the issue, that is, 42 million euros in prizes.
Among the prizes awarded by this Sweepstakes, stands out a First Prize of 600,000 euros per series, and a Second Prize of 120,000 euros per series.
In the act have been present the delegate in Murcia of Lotteries and State Betting, José Laorden, the chief colonel of the Sewer Air Base, Francisco Javier Fernández, the councilor for Culture, Tourism and Celebrations, María Luisa Martínez, the president of the Federation of Peña Festeras y Culturales de Alcantarilla, Juan Sornichero, accompanied by the Witch of the Year of the Fiestas 2018, Javier Ybarra, CEO of Hidrogea, as well as several members of its board of directors, as well as members of the Municipal Corporation and of different sewage associations that have not wanted to miss this event.
Sewer Parties in May
The Fiestas de Mayo de Alcantarilla, are of regional tourist interest, at the moment in the process of finalizing the file to elevate them to be declared of national tourist interest, with more than forty cultural events on foot of streets where Huertana tradition and modernity coexist in harmony.
We enjoy our outdoor concerts, in the festival grounds, with performances by national and international artists made during two weeks full of color, music and events for all.
The accomplishment of international competitions of long trajectory like the International Festival of the Tango, the one of Folklore, the Night of the Copla, the Flamenco Chair.
These activities, totally free for the population, make our city an outdoor "nightclub" perfect for the summer season and good weather.
The festive folkloric aspect that embodies the moment of the "Burning of the Witch" supposes a distinctive feature with respect to other regional celebrations.
The first records in which the Witch appears are from 1987. Tradition that has been established and that lives in harmony with the rest of traditions, due to the involvement of the Federation of Peasants Festeras and Cultural, overturned in each of these acts , with more than 400 supporters in its 18 fan clubs.
Activities for all audiences throughout the ten days, this year from May 18 to 27.
With large parades of floats and musical charangas, the traditional "Gala de la Reina", or "Judgment to the Witch", to know if it is burned a couple of days later, attractions, tastings, contests as curious as the "Launching of Escoba ", or the" Hunt of the Witch ", is a treasure hunt in each of the witches that are placed that involve all people, especially the youngest ones.
The festivities are completed with another important axis, apart from City Council and Federation of Peñas, the population of Sewer, through the Brotherhood of our Patron, the Virgin of Health, venera and honor with important civic and religious events, in those that emphasize their pilgrimages to his hermitage in the place of "Agua Salá", next to the Museum of the Huerta.
With a great floral offering, where musical sounds join the parade, the huertanos, dressed that afternoon as well, with their rich work and dress suits.
The Fiestas conclude with the procession of our Patroness.
We made the presentation of the tenth in an emblematic place for our municipality, the Museum of the Huerta, to celebrate its 50th Anniversary and since last March 10, a long year of activities to commemorate it.
