The City Sewer and FSG have signed an agreement aimed at the Roma (11/12/2008)

The City Council today signed Sewer Sewer Mayor Lazaro Sanchez Mellado and national president of the FSG, Pedro Fernández Puente, a collaboration agreement, which aims to set the terms in which it developed in As for the actions that will address the Roma under the Multi-regional Programme to Combat Discrimination 2007-2013 European Social Fund, called the ACCESS program, whose execution has ordered the Spanish State to the FSG as Intermediate Body. At the ceremony was also attended by the Deputy Mayor for Social Services, Mónica García García and the head of the Foundation in Murcia, Jesus Salmeron.

In Sewell will start a device, which will aim at the reception, career guidance, support and access of the Roma population, mainly youth training and employment.

It will serve the Roma population living in our county, and in their areas of influence.

The agreement includes co-financing Sewer City of 18,000 €, while for 2009 the amount is 12,000 €, and that the City Sewer further contribute to the provision of a local project for care located in the Centro Integral de San José Obrero, and maintenance costs that it generates.

Both institutions feel the need to establish cooperation aimed to combine their efforts in order to allow greater social and professional integration of the Roma community, which entails the implementation of the Guidelines for National Plans of Social Inclusion of Spain.

Agreeing that the situation of Roma with low education levels and high unemployment rates, requires the implementation of active measures in the fields of vocational training and employment for full social integration.

In this sense, we consider the Roma as a distinct group, whose work requires insertion process, as manifested by the experts, and given its peculiarities and cultural differences, a specialized and comprehensive treatment, which must be driven with a positive global policy, so as to overcome partial or fragmented actions, as well as the risk of the spread of available resources.

The common objective of the actions to be undertaken by the FSG will be to improve the capacity of integration and inclusion of Roma in the labor market and employment and the promotion of active social policies with the same, especially on matters of occupational training, career counseling, rehabilitative counseling, assistance in access to employment, awareness campaigns aimed at employers and public bodies, research and methodology to apply to programs.
