They opened the doors to the public of the rehabilitated Aviation Park in Alcantarilla (25/02/2018)

The reopening to the public of the remodeled Parque de Aviación, which is located between the Romans road and Numancia, Sagunto and Félix Rodríguez de la Fuente streets, has been reopened to the public, with live music by the LCD Funk group Collective, children's workshops, with eight monitors specializing in children's entertainment that will delight children in different areas of the park.

A gymkhana for children with ten tests with the theme of explorers and around the world, superhero games, tournaments and sports games and other activities.

The event was attended by the Government delegate, Francisco Bernabé, the chief colonel of the Alcantarilla Air Base and director of the Military Parachute School "Méndez Parada", Francisco Javier Fernández and the mayor of Alcantarilla, Joaquín Buendía, as well as the Councilor for Public Safety, Works and Services, Juan Antonio Mata, along with other members of the Municipal Corporation.

From now on, the alcantarilleros and those who do not visit, will be able to enjoy again the 15,000 square meters of this green lung, which has been rehabilitated, with improvements in accessibility and led lighting, exterior fencing, canine park, being the same equipped with three new areas of children's games adapted for different ages, with integration games for children with functional diversity, children's play areas with elevated houses, slides and a zip line as a novelty, swings, table of parchís and chess, as well as sports areas with mini football, basketball and calisthenics track.

The name of the Aviation Park obeys to be in the old grounds of the Park and Aviation Assembly Workshops, following the agreement of public domain signed by the Ministry of Defense, through the Captain General of the 2nd Air Region and Head of the Air Command del Estrecho, Alejandro García González and the mayor of Alcantarilla, Pedro Manuel Toledo, in Seville, on May 17, 1991. In exchange, the Alcantarilla City Council also acquired the commitment to build a military quartermaster ship in the Air Base itself. Alcantarilla, today being the place where the service and the 112 helicopters and the Civil Guard are located.

The previous project of the Aviation Park was carried out in two phases and with two mayors of Alcantarilla.

The first phase in 1994, with Pedro Manuel Toledo Valero as Mayor, through the Hispano Murciana de Construcciones company, with a cost of 30,360,000 pesetas and, the second of the phases, at the end of 1995 and during the year 1996, by the then mayor of Alcantarilla, Lázaro Mellado Sánchez, works that were carried out by Intersa-Viveros "La Generala", that even being planned in project for 71,865,055 pesetas, when the hiring was carried out by auction, they were executed by 53,611 .565 pesetas.

The project also included the construction of a public parking lot on the surface next to the Park.

The inauguration of this last phase was held in April 1997 and from that date the Park was called Aviation.
