Today, June 28, the International LGTBIQ Pride Day is celebrated, a day in which attention is drawn to a collective whose rights have not always been respected and which, even today, continues to be subject to discriminatory and unequal treatment.
In the morning of today in the plenary hall, members of the Municipal Corporation, headed by the Councilor for Social Welfare, Family and Women, María Ignacia Domingo, have read the Institutional Declaration that has been carried out in other town councils, thus fulfilling the invitation made by the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces, at the national level.
From the Spanish Local Governments and from the Town Hall of Sewer also, the struggle for equal rights of all citizens, regardless of their orientation or sexual identity, has been a banner throughout the forty years since the municipal elections of 1979, the first in the constitutional stage.
And today, it is at the municipal level where actions of education, awareness and sensitization are undertaken in a more direct way to eradicate behaviors that may be vexatious or offensive.
Therefore, the City of Sewer, on the occasion of the commemoration of this June 28, has also read this Institutional Declaration, in adherence to it and join in this way to the commitment to equality, the universality of rights and firm condemnation of any type of discrimination.
