The works of the surroundings of the Huerta Museum, with the excavations of the Aqueduct of the Noria, are visited by the advisor of the acting Presidency, Pedro Rivera (04/06/2019)

In the morning of today the counselor of Presidency, Pedro Rivera and the mayor of Alcantarilla, Joaquín Buendía, accompanied by the councilman of Works and Services, Juan Antonio Mata, all of them in functions, have visited the works of the project of remodeling of the surroundings of the Museum de la Huerta, which has been carried out since the beginning of this year, through the biennial Cooperation Plan for Works and Services, with an investment that exceeds 650.00 euros, of which more than 500,000 from the Regional Government and the rest through municipal contribution.

The visit counted on the information of the archeologist Juan Antonio Ramirez, who is the one who directs from the beginning of the works the excavations that have been carried out in the aqueduct.

Waiting to restart the works, after the modifications carried out, of the initially projected, the 27 arches, the 26 that were already known, are already excavated in their totality, plus the one that was discovered after the excavations, being in the site of the own Orchard next to the Aqueduct of the XV-XVI century, Roman walls, coins and ceramics of diverse invoice that testify the Roman occupation in this zone of the orchard.

The sewers and visitors have been enjoying all this time contemplating the process of excavation of the Aqueduct of the Arcos de la Noria, before starting the real project of remodeling the surroundings of the Museum and construction of a large park on the 25,000 square meters planned.

An aqueduct that will soon see how it will have restoration works to see if it fits more splendor of it.

Remember that this park contemplates the construction of an open-air amphitheater with the arches of the aqueduct as a background, for scenic arts, music and other activities, for some 400 to 500 people, with accessibility in all its set with adapted paths and will have a integrated children's play area over an area of ​​about 1000 square meters and for the youngest, a square Skate will be built for skateboard lovers, and a "Street Workout" area for calisthenics training.

As in previous performances, there is also a canine park of more than 1200 square meters with "agility" elements and a kiosk-bar with a terrace.

The project includes the installation of led lighting throughout the park and urban furniture (banks, bins ...), as well as tree planting that will increase the existing one.
