The PSOE urges Urban Planning to adopt measures "as a matter of urgency" to put an end to the 'street corner' in the Cabezo Verde de Alcantarilla neighborhood (21/03/2019)

A group of neighbors has been presenting writings to the City Council, since 2010, claiming the asphalting of the central section of one hundred meters of Lérida Street, which neither pedestrians nor vehicles can transit because the pavement and pavement ends and a kind of bancal plagued with bushes and rubble

The PSOE denounces that the residents of the Barrio del Cabezo Verde de Alcantarilla coexist with Calle Lérida, which has been unofficially known as the "calle del bancal".

In the aforementioned road, the pavement and the sidewalk end just as it begins its central stretch, giving way to unpaved land, which are impassable for pedestrians and vehicles because they are plagued by sharp slopes, bushes and all kinds of debris: work, plastics, remnants of pruning ...

A group of residents has directed several writings to the City Council with the aim of paving the entire Lérida street, but the road is still unfinished today.

This has been confirmed by the socialist candidate for mayor, Francisco Saavedra, during the visit he has made to the Barrio del Cabezo Verde and where he has had a meeting with Miguel Peñalver, spokesman for the neighbors who have completed several writings.

During the meeting, the neighborhood spokesman has delivered to Saavedra the letter they presented to the Consistory in June 2010 and which literally denounces that "Calle Lérida has only street name is that you have put, with a sign and four screws , for the rest, that seems more like Afghanistan. "

They even ironic at that time that "some neighbor is tempted to appear to the Dakar, because as a training there is nothing better than going through Lérida Street".

Nine years after that first communication, the central stretch of this road, about 100 meters long, still lacks pavement and sidewalks.

Only the two ends are paved: access to Lérida street from Ingeniero Perito Agrícola street and the area where there are several duplexes.

The neighborhood spokesman has detailed to the candidate that this situation, in practice, assumes that the neighbors are forced to make a detour with their cars through Oviedo and Huesca streets to access their homes or to leave the neighborhood.

They are also deprived of a direct access to Ingeniero Perito Agrícola, a road that connects with the national highway of Javalí Nuevo, the San José clinic or the Ángel Sornichero Sports Center, they even suffer delays in the delivery of some packages because when a messenger arrives at Lérida street goes away when seeing that the vial interrupts and gives way to a species of bancal.

"These kinds of situations are incomprehensible," laments Saavedra.

The only measure that the City Council has adopted in recent years has been to put downspout in the unpaved central stretch of the aforementioned road, which has worsened the situation because the land has more slopes by the action of water in recent years.

For this reason, the socialist mayor Lara Hernandez has submitted a letter in which urges the Department of Urban Planning, "as a matter of urgency, the complete paving and the arrangement of sidewalks along the street Lleida."

He also asks for the improvement of lighting and street cleaning, arguing that in recent years, the Consistory has received numerous writings from the residents of Cabezo Verde, "denouncing the lack of road infrastructure and cleanliness of the whole street".

Choose delegates at the polls

The Cabezo Verde neighborhood is located on the outskirts of the municipality, on the border with Javalí Nuevo, and the socialist candidate for mayor attributes the problem of the "street of the bench" to a lack of attention of the City Council to the slums located in the city. Alcantarilla outskirts ".

Saavedra bets "to decentralize management so that these problems are not perpetuated in time without solution, so we are going to promote in the next legislature a committee of neighborhoods that will meet periodically with the neighbors to channel the proposals of the neighbors and know their concerns. "

In addition, the candidate wants to give a turn to the current figure of the neighborhood delegates and in the next mandate advances that will propose to the House that "these representatives are democratically elected, through neighborhood participation processes in which the residents of each neighborhood can choose their representatives through the polls, not by finger as it happens now.
