An extension of the UNED will be one of the star projects in the education area of the program of the PSOE candidate in Alcantarilla (20/03/2019)

This delegation, which will also have a Senior Classroom, will prevent a total of 578 people registered in the port city from traveling to the UNED in Cartagena and residing in the town of Alcantarillera and neighboring towns such as Las Torres de Cotillas.

Enable an extension of the National University of Distance Education (UNED) in Alcantarilla.

This will be one of the star projects that the PSOE will include in the area of education of the electoral program that is being prepared by the socialist candidate for mayor, Francisco Saavedra, in the face of the upcoming municipal elections.

This delegation, according to the data collected from the UNED itself by the Saavedra campaign team, will prevent the displacement to the Cartagena facilities of this teaching institution, a total of 578 people who are currently studying there and who reside in the city sewer and in bordering populations, such as Las Torres de Cotillas, Alguazas and several districts of Murcia.

The headquarters of the UNED is in Cartagena and the goal of the PSOE is that Sewer, from the next course that starts in October, adds to the extensions that has this university in Murcia, Caravaca de la Cruz, Lorca and Yecla .

For this, the Socialist candidate for City Hall, Francisco Saavedra, has already held a working meeting with Maria Luisa Martinez, director in the port city of the National University of Distance Education (UNED), to show her interest in the creation of this new delegation and to advise on the studies that could shape the future training offer.

The project of the new extension that the PSOE has designed, as Saavedra advances, "will also include a Senior Classroom, as in Elche, so that older people can access higher education."

The classrooms will be enabled in a municipally owned building.

"Our radius of action will be thirty kilometers around, so the opening of this space will have a positive impact on the local economy because students who travel to our city to attend tutorials, could access the services of our shops. and catering business ", the candidate highlights.

Saavedra emphasizes that the project "is completely viable" for the next term.

"It would be enough to present a motion to the Plenary with the institutional request of the City Council of this new extension of the UNED and that in the next municipal budgets a specific item would be enabled to cover the salaries of the teaching staff in charge of the tutorials", details some of the administrative procedures that the Consistory would have to complete.

The UNED has more than 250,000 students throughout the country, among other reasons, for its non-face-to-face education system, supported by personal tutoring and 'on line', without forgetting that the price to enroll in their studies is lower than the of the rest of universities.

The cost of the credits of the degrees offered by the UNED ranges from 13 to 21,60 euros.
