We can: "Alcantarilla extends its municipal budgets for the third consecutive year" (02/01/2019)

"Once again, the Mayor Joaquín Buendía (PP) has been unable to reach an agreement with the opposition and the municipality will be forced to work with the 2016 budgets, the last ones approved in time and form in the Plenary"

The Mayor of Alcantarilla, Joaquín Buendía (PP), as of January 2 of this year has not yet presented in the Plenary of the municipality a project of municipal budgets for the year 2019. Consequently, as provided for by the Regulatory Law of The Bases of the Local Regime in its article 112.5, those of the previous year are extended.

It is already the third time in this term that municipal budgets are extended, so that Sewer must operate for the third consecutive year with the 2016 budgets, the last approved in the Plenary, which have been successively extended since then.

For the municipal budgets of 2017, the PP, which lost the absolute majority in 2015, did not get any votes from the rest of the parties, so their project was rejected.

Regarding the budgets of 2018, the Mayor withdrew the budget project minutes before the Plenary began in which they were going to debate, because again he had not got any support.

By 2019 the municipal government of the PP has not even submitted a draft budget and has resigned to extend once again the 2016.

This maneuver avoids Joaquín Buendía, who has already been nominated as candidate of the PP and already thinks in electoral key, an image of loser and inability to reach consensus.

However, the municipality faces challenges in 2019 that can not be resolved with outdated budgets.

Neighbors' complaints about cleanliness are constant, broken street lamps take months to be repaired and schools have been asking for shadows and other improvements for years.

Podemos Alcantarilla has denounced that "Sewer needs updated budgets and according to the real needs of the neighbors, with more investment in public transport, street cleaning and social policy."

Arcadio Martinez, purple councilor, has declared that "Joaquín Buendía and the PP demonstrate that they are incapable of governing for all the neighbors, in the next elections we will form a new majority of progress for Alcantarilla".
