A student at Our Lady of the Assumption School is the winner of the regional phase of the "Grow in Safety" contest (16/11/2018)

In the auditorium of the Occupational Health and Safety Institute of the Region of Murcia this morning the awards ceremony of the fourteenth edition of the drawing contest of the "GROW IN SECURITY" campaign, which the Autonomous Community has convened, was held, through the Ministry of Employment, Universities, Business and Environment of the regional government, the General Directorate of Labor Relations and Social Economy and the aforementioned Institute of Occupational Health and Safety.

The delivery of these awards has been chaired by the Director General of Labor Relations and Social Economy, Nuria Fuentes, the director of the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health, which has been attended by the Councilor for Education, Juan Manuel Gómez, along with relatives, teachers and the management team of the Nuestra Señora de la Asunción school where the student is awarded.

The winning work, the work of Lidia García of the Nuestra Señora de la Asunción school, which was already awarded in the local phase, has been chosen among the 3,429 works presented at the regional level, 206 of them from the municipality of Alcantarilla.

As a prize he has received a supporting diploma and a 10 "tablet.

The Campaign "Grows in Security course 2017/2018", has been aimed at students who are studying fifth grade of primary education, the objective being to promote the culture of risk prevention in the school and family environment in all Public Education Centers and Concerts of the Region of Murcia, as well has been also in our municipality.

The campaign is a first contact of students with the prevention of occupational hazards and is designed so that students learn to act with caution in those circumstances that may pose a danger to their physical integrity or health, so that they are shown how avoid risks in their usual environment, that is, at home, school, park or street, and that may lead to accidents or unwanted conditions.

It is important that students can cope responsibly with the risks of their environment and internalize prevention as a natural habit in their daily lives.

In this sense, we must take advantage of the ease with which students of these ages internalize certain behaviors to project a preventive culture that will accompany them throughout their lives.

The students have participated in talks in which the professionals have shown the students the most frequent risks in their daily activity, such as falls, burns, electrical risks, cuts, wounds, blows or shocks, as well as the measures they can adopt to avoid them.

From the Alcantarilla City Council, we congratulate Lidia for her magnificent work, for her local and regional awards and we encourage her to continue forward in her desire to pursue engineering studies in the future.

We also congratulate their relatives and teachers at the Nuestra Señora de la Asunción school.
